The Eyes of a Player

The Eyes of a Player  Mitchell Storm 9/21/17      While teaching the sport of Ultimate Frisbee, it's easy to draw on a white board or a piece of paper and tell someone how to play. Although this is the easiest way to teach, it's not always the most effective way to do so. Its difficult to imagine whats going on on the field when all you have to look at is some x's and o's on a piece of paper. The videos posted solve this exact issue.     This past weekend, the SUNY Fredonia club Ultimate Frisbee team played in a tournament in Edinboro, Pennsylvania. One of the team's players decided to take it upon himself and put together a baseball cap with a GoPro mount screwed into it. The hat was then worn by one of Fredonia's team captains, Jon Gill, during multiple games of the tournament pool play. "Breaking a Defensive Heart" In their video, Mario O'Brien and RISE UP Ultimate demonstrate some of the basics of playing offense during an Ultimate Frisbee game. They then continue to dig deeper and deeper into the tactics and strategies that any player can use to make them a much better player. The title of the YouTube video, stated above, is a perfect representation of how much passion and intensity go into every point during an Ultimate Frisbee game. This episode, being the beginning of season 6 of O'Brien and RISE UP's YouTube show, demonstrates in itself how experienced these people are at discussing and teaching the sport of Ultimate. For anybody trying to learn about the sport, whether you're a three year player trying to get better or a new player learning for the first time, these are the videos you should be watching.
